Igloo Software Heads into 2017 with Unprecedented Growth
Local scale-up expands office space, doubles down on recruitment efforts
KITCHENER, JANUARY 13, 2017 – Igloo Software, the leading provider of digital workplace solutions, announced today that it expects the explosive growth it saw in 2016 to continue through this year, as the company expands its office space and focuses on local recruitment efforts.
A modern intranet solution, the downtown Kitchener-based scale-up helps companies around the world build inspiring digital destinations for a more productive and engaged workforce. Its recent growth can in part be attributed to the rise of the digital workplace and an expanding market opportunity: enterprise portal and social intranets are estimated to grow from $3.5B today to $8B by 2019*.
Igloo has capitalized on this market opportunity, being named to Deloitte’s 2016 Technology Fast 500 as one of North America’s fastest growing companies for the second consecutive year, with 138 percent revenue growth. Igloo’s 430+ customer base across the technology, financial services and healthcare sectors has also helped propel its success through organic growth and the addition of new users to the platform.
Along with additions to its executive leadership team, Igloo has grown from 90 employees in 2015 to 125 staff with plans to hire another 50 this year. To facilitate this, it has expanded its office space, taking over a second floor of its current home at 55 King Street West in downtown Kitchener. The additional floor will house the Igloo Product Strategy and Development teams, responsible for software and solutions development, quality assurance and release management.
“While the incredible growth that we are seeing as a company meant the need for a bigger office space, we were committed to staying in downtown Kitchener,” said Dan Latendre, Founder & CEO of Igloo Software. “Kitchener is becoming a strong technology hub and Igloo continues to invest in the local economy. We are enthusiastic about Mayor Vrbanovic’s Digital Kitchener vision and look forward to the supporting a potential Civic Innovation Lab at Communitech.”
“Igloo’s commitment to Downtown Kitchener, and to recruiting locally, is a strong signal that Kitchener’s investments in Communitech, Velocity and the Accelerator Centre are paying substantial dividends,” said Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic. “The evolving tech ecosystem driven by companies like Igloo continues to transform our city, making Kitchener a great place to start and grow a business, and giving people the opportunity to have exciting careers. And as a city, we want to become a more engaged part of this ecosystem, using our new Digital Kitchener strategy to help support everything from digital literacy to building a new municipal innovation lab at Communitech.”
Igloo prefers to hire locally, and is actively recruiting in the Kitchener-Waterloo region. With open positions primarily in technology and development, recent graduates and job seekers are encouraged to visit igloosoftware.com/careers to view current opportunities.
